Quota Uptake PDF Print E-mail

THE UK's North Sea cod fishery is now effectively finished   but  on the other side of the coin,  it now looks likely that there will be an undershoot of the North Sea haddock allocation, given  that  just  under 77% of the quota had been netted according to the most recent figures available on December 5.

Both the North Sea and West Coast nephrops allocations  will not be taken this  year  against a background of continuing market depression from the fishermen's point of view.

With  roughly a 91% uptake, North Sea  saithe has been  running second to cod in terms of uptake with whiting not far behind at roughly 90%.
